Welcome to Cincinnati, Ohio and the premier concert venue since the 1980’s and was packed with a full house tonight for the Half God Half Devil Tour featuring Gemini Syndrome, Avatar, Motionless In White, and In This Moment. Fans started to line up at around 5pm waiting for over an hour to get the best seats in the general admission section to see these amazing bands.

Gemini Syndrome, led by lead singer Aaron Nordstrom came to the stage and immediately started the evening with selections from their catalog of musical offering old and new. Drummer Brian Steele Medina is a true animal on his kit, he plays in a very deliberate style and he is into it the whole time. Gemini Syndrome is a very solid band with great musicians and a talent to work the crowd into a frenzy giving them a great show.

Visiting us all the way from Göteborg (Sweden), Avatar played next. They certainly introduced their brand of scary circus metal to the tri state! Front man, and ring master of the circus, Johannes Michael Gustaf Eckerström, is one of the most dynamic front men to come along in this new generation of metal bands, and he always puts on a show. With his dark scary clownish makeup, Eckerström performed and sang his guts out. Jonas "Kungen" Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström’s masterful guitar work was further enhanced by their double propeller hair head banging, literally becoming the music from head to toe. Bassist, Henrik Sandelin, and drummer, John Alfredsson, were the only stoic members of the band. They let their icy stares and intense performances do the talking and it was hard and heavy. Be sure to see them at your local venue or one at one of the many festivals they are playing around the country.

As the lights came up and the music started, Motionless in White broke the silence with their song “A M E R I C A”, attacking the fans with their signature sound ripping their faces off. Chris Motionless is a master of the mic at working the crowd and bridging the gap from the stage to the fans. As the spotlight lit up the MIW front man, you could her the deep humming bass lines as Devin "Ghost" Sola began his haunting sound building the moment till Boom the lights came up and the rest of the band joined in hard and fast. Ricky Horror and Ryan Sitkowski began their dueling guitar assault on the Motionless faithful as the whole band broke into a head banging greeting. Through new songs like “Eternally Yours” and “Loud (Fuck It)” to true band favorites “Reincarnate” and “Dead as Fuck”, MIW laid down a hard and heavy set that aimed to please.

Thunder rang out and lighting struck on stage as the drums began to fill the air with their heavy beats, accompanied by a tornado siren as the curtains opened to reveal the band playing their opening song “Blood”. The red stage lights and fog only enhanced the feeling of blood during the song as it brought the crowd all the way into the arms of Maria and the boys, from which they never let go. Song after song, costume after costume, the stage show that is put on by In This Moment is something that only experiencing it live will do it justice. The musicians in this band are not only playing their instruments masterfully, but also playing part in the spectacle that transforms this concert into a theatrical event. The painted faces of the bands members give you a creepy and intriguing feeling that keeps your attention as they serenade you with their metal dulcet tones that lull you into submission. As the music fills your ears, the visual stimulus that is the Beautiful Maria Brink and her hauntingly sensual blood girls completes the hypnotic hold on your senses as she serenades you with her entrancing voice. The visual stimulus of these beautiful sirens is only enhanced by the words and affirming message to all who hear them. Songs like “Adrenalize”, “Whore”, “Blood to name a few, give meaning from empowering women and living life to the fullest to taking control back and loving ourselves after a bad relationship or childhood. These songs all strike at a cord of liberation that is present in each one of us, helping those who can hear the truth in the words to find it within themselves. If you ever have a chance to catch In This Moment or any of these incredible bands, run don’t walk to the venue and experience them live, you won’t regret it.
