House Of Blues (Los Angeles, CA)
Live Review By: ~ Corey
After taking 2 days off to attend the memorial service of their late friend/band mate, Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus), GWAR continued their "Return of the World Maggot Tour," (in support of their 12th studio album, Bloody Pit Of Horror) at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, CA.
The memory of Smoot was very present, as the show began with a video montage, along with chants of "Cory! Cory!". There was a sea of white t-shirts throughout the crowd, but that would quickly change as the band kicked off their set with Zombies, March - the opening track from their latest album.
Few were left untouched as GWAR delivered their blood splattered brand of Heavy Metal and theatrics; Playing a mix of new songs and familiar favorites -- A Gathering of Ghouls, Bring Back the Bomb, Let Us Slay, Ham on the Bone, and an encore that included Maggots and Sick of You.
Having made the decision to finish the current tour in honor of their Heavy Metal brother, GWAR lived up to their reputation and unleashed a chaotic slaughter that would've surely pleased their flatulent comrade!
**Editors Note: Corey was set to capture some live photos of this epic show, however camera and phone got destroyed in pit with Gwar goo!...Corey is trying to pull photos off.. hopefully can salvage a few.
RIP CORY SMOOT
