The Memorial for Ronnie James Dio on May 30th was just beautiful! It was indeed a celebration of his incredible life, but I am still sad & filled with emotion at the loss of our beloved Dio. It is really amazing how many lives he touched; both musically and personally. Dio is and will always be one of the most revered legends in the music industry...and undeniably, the best voice in metal! I heard it many times on Sunday and it is so true ...there is a hole in our hearts with Dio's passing, but his music & spirit will live on...it certainly will in my heart!
From Ronnie James Dio's official website: For the fans that could not make it to Ronnie's Memorial, we will have the official T-Shirt, Program and Button available for a donation to the "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund. More information to come.
Please do not buy them off of eBay as none of the $$ will be going to the fund. These are sellers looking to make a profit off of Ronnie which is very sad. Check back at www.ronniejamesdio.com for updates and to make donations to the "Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund".
In addition, stay tuned for updates on upcoming Ronnie James Dio Tribute concerts - it was announced at the memorial that there are at least 2 tribute concerts in the works - one in London - one in Los Angeles - possibly Fall 2010.
May 30th was also proclaimed Ronnie James Dio Day by Los Angeles City Council member Paul Koretz.
Dio - thank you for the music and the magic - Rest In Peace.
