4th Annual Record Store Day - April 16th
Celebrating the Art of Music
2011 Official Ambassador - Ozzy Osbourne
Review by: Mo and Craig
Craig and I went to Mad Platter record store in Riverside, California on April 16th for 2 things - to support indie Record Store Day and to get a Deluxe, Numbered Limited Edition (of only 2,500) vinyl picture disc of DIO's 2002 release "Killing The Dragon".
Although I paid full retail for mine, it is personalized and signed, and worth every penny. Look for 2 hidden messages on the disc - one on the front and one on the back.
Mad Platter and Niji hosted a meet-n-greet and signing with members of DIO Disciples (Craig Goldy, Simon Wright and Scott Warren). Over 200 fans gathered outside the store - lots of DIO shirts could be seen in tribute to Ronnie James Dio, as the store blasted Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, DIO and Heaven & Hell music all day long. When I left the store, there were only a handful of discs left on the racks.

DIO Disciples are:
Tim "Ripper" Owens & Toby Jepson - sharing vocals
Craig Goldy - Guitar
James LoMenzo - Bass (possibly Rudy Sarzo at a later date - currently committed with Blue Oyster Cult)
Simon Wright - Drums
Scott Warren - Keyboards
DIO Disciples will embark on a European tour beginning June 8th in Moscow. Sources say U.S. tour dates may be as soon as Fall 2011.

Mad Platter has a killer selection. The store is well organized and if you go there, plan on staying awhile - there are some rare finds and a wide range of vinyl too at great prices. For those that collect or still buy vinyl, the $2.99 section is a MUST.
